The loss of a loved one is often one of the most trying and difficult experiences any of us ever has to endure. At Avalon Hospice, we feel that no one should have to face mourning a loved one alone. We provide a variety of grief support services for thirteen months after a loved one has passed, and can make referrals for further counseling as needed.
We work closely with the social work staff to meet the needs of primary care givers, family, and friends who are in need of our services. In addition to individual counseling, we stay connected through grief support groups, informational mailings, phone calls, and other outreach efforts.
Sadly, grief affects even the
youngest of hearts. Children ages 7
– 16 are strongly encouraged to
attend Camp Brave Heart where, in
addition to participating in grief
support sessions, they can be
involved in recreational activities
including swimming, horse back
riding, rope courses, archery,
nature walks and camp fire
entertainment.
No matter our age, we are all deeply touched and changed by our experiences with bereavement. In a time when it may be easy to feel alone, our grief support staff makes themselves readily available to act as both a resource, and an inspiration to move forward.
