Our Dietician and food service staff are committed not only to creating meals that meet the general nutritional requirements of the state of Michigan, but also to finding comfort foods and other favorites that patients/residents are most likely to enjoy. As part of their efforts toward dignity and comfort, dietary staff continually emphasizes foods that are appetizing with the philosophy that patients/residents should not be denied the foods that they love, and they should never be forced to eat if it brings them distress.

Patients/Residents can make selections from a menu for three meals each day, but they can also make made-to-order meal requests at any time. It's not uncommon for this culinary staff to go to great lengths to prepare or purchase meals that will tempt the palate of choosier patients/residents.

Meals are delivered on heated plates to ensure that foods arrive fresh, and special themed meals are often used to keep everyone in good spirits. Patients/Residents are welcome to receive meals in their rooms or in the dining areas.

Patients/residents and their families may choose to join our Social Hour with desserts, conversation, and activities at no expense. Patients/residents, family, and friends are encouraged to attend.

The nutritional staff is always readily available to address the dietary concerns of patients/residents.

"Eating is one of the few pleasures people have left. We want our food to be appetizing to people who don't necessarily have an appetite. We try to serve comfort foods, and some of their old favorites, and we've even made extra trips to the store to find special foods that our guests enjoy. It's satisfying that it's one of the last few meals they have and they enjoy it. That really makes me feel good that I've helped them."
Phyllis Balmer, Dietician.
