"When my last child left for college, I got the blues about having the empty nest here at home. I decided my life had been blessed, and it was time to go out and give pay backs. I felt if I was going to spend my time, I wanted to do something that I felt was very important in the world. There was an article in the paper about this new thing called Hospice. There was a woman in Fenton who was starting one that was the first one in the area. I thought 'I love life so much, and other than losing one of my children, being told I only have 6 months to live must be the worst thing that could happen to me.' I wanted to give comfort. I do have a knack for making people feel comfortable with me almost immediately. I love it. I've been doing it for almost twenty-one years."
