One way in which we often begin the healing process after the loss of a loved one is to share in the stories of others. For many of us, it is vital that our own story be heard, and also that we hear the echo of our own emotions in the words of others who have faced something similar.
This portion of our website is a space devoted to allowing others to exchange stories about how they have been affected by their time with Avalon Hospice. We hope to hear from family members, patients/residents, volunteers, and visitors who have been touched by our experiences together. We invite you to write honestly and openly about your encounters with us, in hopes that we can not only receive feedback about our services, but also, that we might offer another form a support for those who are just beginning a journey of healing.
Please email stories to stories@avalonhospice.org and be sure to include your name and contact information. We are currently accepting submissions to add to our website, and will contact you for permission before posting any of your work. If it is your wish, we will be happy to post your story anonymously once we have received your permission.

"The stories about the residents just touch your heart. We had a resident whose son was a musician. He took his mother into the chapel and played the organ for her in a private concert before her death. We had another resident who reserved our family room and called everyone from her family together. She spoke with each person individually and gave them her blessing, and shared her expectations for them. It's a different place here. It's quiet, and calm, and no one's rushed. We want the residents to do what they need to do in order to feel peace." Carole Tibbetts, RN, Quality Improvement, Education Nurse
